Triggered

Triggered is a powerful spoken word, musical and visual piece of work, written and performed by Jean Cynthia, a singer, teacher and writer. The short film is part of the Intercultural Cohort series commissioned by Terra Nova Productions. 

The piece is described as ‘an inward look as a Black Woman - Single Mother - navigating the perspectives, tensions, the little wins and challenges experienced within the isolation and lockdown of Covid 19 – and the unexpected personal connection to her identity triggered by the murder of George Floyd.

It’s the discovery of her voice as she seeks to stand up, speak out and step up to the plate, for the well-being of herself, her children and her people. Powerfully written, performed and visually depicted, this piece will take you on a journey as the artist reflects on tensions and struggles with which many will identify.
